New viewer? Hello! Visit this start here page first to understand what this show is all about!
One of my favorite business shows on TV right now is The Profit with Marcus Lemonis. I love how practical it is for helping small business owners, and Marcus always invests his own money, so you can’t say fairer than that!
The episode I descontruct in this weeks episode is probably the most shocking one I’ve seen. The owners of 240Sweet gradually go off the rails until one of them admits they were simply using Marcus for publicity! Shocking!
As usual, please let me know your thoughts about the episode – leave your comment below, it’s really easy to do, and I’d LOVE to hear whatever is on your mind!

New viewer? Well hello! Visit this start here page first to understand what this show is all about!
John Cleese from Monty Python was the star of a much loved British sitcom from the 70’s called Fawlty Towers. Have you seen it? Over the years Cleese has been asked to reprise his role as Basily Fawlty, but he’s always refused…until now! Cleese was pitched an idea for a new TV commercial that he really resonated with, and it’s become a great success. The key lesson here is to consider leveraging nostalgia in your advertising and marketing.
This episode also features a nifty resource to help you manage your email inbox, and there’s a big marketing lesson from Air Canada, too.

New viewer? Well hello! Visit this start here page first to understand what this show is all about!
Last week I highlighted the ridiculous supermarket sign that tells customers to count to 15 with their 3 hands!
That would prove difficult for most people but I’ve come up with a creative solution!
While on the subject of supermarkets, The Ralph’s chain in California has implemented giant screens over their checkouts. The problem is, there’s no explanation of the 3 circles on screen. Nothing. I asked 3 staff and no one knew! Hmmm…
My special guest for this episode is the actor Glenn Morshower, who seems to be on the big and small screens everywhere! He’s been in more than 200 TV shows and movies, including his now famous role as Secret Service agent and protector of the President, Aaron Pierce, in the hit Fox TV show “24” with Kiefer Sutherland. We talk about how Glenn manages to get so many roles so easily, and how he stands out from the crowd during auditions. Glenn also enjoys speaking on tour, with a program called “The Extra Mile”.

Have you seen these Snickers bars with different words on them? It’s a great example of personalized packaging. Initially I thought they were named after the 7 dwarves, but then I realized that there’s no dwarf named Goof Ball! It’s an interesting marketing lesson for your small business, in product personalization. Coca cola have done something by giving bottles of Coke people’s first names.
This episode also features part 2 of an interview with master business coach, Rob Berkley, who’s Vision Day concept has become one of the most helpful ways for entrepreneurs to evaluate and take their business to the next level. We discuss questions 7 to 12, to help you lead a happier, more successful life. Enjoy.

On my travels recently I spotted Starbucks $200 gift card with a $50 credit! I’m not a math genius but it seems that anyone who pays $200 for $50 credit may need their head examined! However this blinged out card flew off the shelves faster than a toupe in a hurricane. Starbucks is a lifestyle brand and this gift card allows their most affluent customers to part with their money.
This week’s viewer question is about promoting a local pizza business. It’s a very common problem, and invariably its the message thats the problem. Every business needs a USP, a unique selling proposition, or unique selling point as its sometimes known. There’s just so many pizza restaurants – you have to offer something different in order to stand out from the crowd.
Managing HR (human resources) in a business can be a real hassle for a small business owner. Thankfully, there’s a nifty service with Zenefits.com. Check it out.
Virgin America is still a young start in the airline industry, but it’s making waves. The airline has been awarded the “Best U.S. Airline” for 8 consecutive years by Travel and Leisure magazine. Most airline safety videos are dull and boring, so Virgin adapted a music video to grab passengers attention. It’s brilliant! It’s catchy, fun and cool, and it definitely grabs and keeps your attention. It’s remarkable that this idea got off the ground, and the result is fantastic.

Peter Hollens is an astounding YouTube success story. In fact he and his wife inspired the movie Pitch Perfect!

Undercover Boss is a great business related TV show where the boss of a company gets into a disguise and goes undercover on the shop floor. In the episode I talk about here, Jacqueline from Retro Fitness turned out to be a truly nightmare employee. And it was only when the boss Eric went undercover that her terrible conduct was discovered. The craziest line she came out with was, “I didn’t know it was him (the CEO) or I would never have done it!” That makes it so much worse!
The “Ask Andrew” question comes from Mike Winslow who’s in the process of opening a restaurant. He asks how to verify the demographic he should attract. You have to start with audience in any business. WHO are your ideal buyers. Many business owners fall into the trap with starting with the product, then trying to fit it to an audience.
IFTTT.com is a helpful automation resource to help you get more done. You can do many nifty online automation tasks such as posting an article to Facebook after it’s been posted to a blog.
Im a HUGE Disney fan and I’ll tell you about Michael Eisners idea for a Disney branded car. It never took off, for one very important reason…

First, I share a horrifying website design from… a graphic and website design company! Your website represents the first impression of your business. Is your website up to date? People do tend to judge a business by it’s website.
Tali Ovadia from The Whole Bowl in Portland has created an incredible food cart business in that city. The BIG marketing lesson is from Jack Daniels, the whisky maker, but then you knew that already didnt you?! Jack Daniels has created a “partnership’ with ol’ blue eyes himself, Frank Sinatra. Its a great case study in celebrity branding.

There’s a shocking advertising system being touted in England as the best thing since sliced bread.
I’ll show you their promo video, which in itself is scary! What do you make of this? I’d love to hear your opinion! Would you be happy to be pitched in that way as you walk down the street when shopping?!
Are you following me on Instagram yet? I hope so I’ll give you some daily inspiration.
I take a controversial stand on SEO as you’ll see from the quote in this episode. There were many ‘black hat’ methods that worked for awhile, but Google is smarter than that. It’s ALWAYS been possible to rank a website well simply by providing fresh, relevant, interesting content on a user friendly website. Google has been consistent in what they ask website owners to provide.
I hope you like this week’s Nifty Click. It’s a great way to get good looking 3D graphics for Photoshop.
